A4a. Recovering the Hoard

This scene takes place in The Burrow

As this scene begins:

• Flax and Gundren are with the party.

When the players defeat the Mud Pie Gang, if Flax unlocked and used his cold breath, he roars triumphantly, unleashing a final burst of freezing air before swooping down to meet the players. (“Did you see me?” he babbles excitedly. “Did you see me do it?”)

If the players recover the sack containing Flax’s hoard from the mephits’ burrow, he is relieved (if not delighted) to see it. Upon opening the sack or inspecting its contents, Flax anxiously checks (and double-checks) it to make sure everything is there. 

If Flax regards the players as friends, he offers them the Pearl as payment for their help, thanking them profusely for their aid. (“It might be one of my treasures,” he says shyly, his silver cheeks flushing furiously, “but Iomandra always said that friends are kind of like treasures. So maybe it all works out?”)

Although he initially insists on dragging his hoard back to the tower himself, Flax is grateful to accept any offers of help.
